Nelson and Marlborough
The Nelson/Marlborough region offers natural coastal experiences, Queen Charlotte Track and the magical Abel Tasman National Park, not to mention New Zealand’s highest sunshine hours.
The Wearable Art phenomenon is now an internationally celebrated event. Winning entries from the shows live exclusively in Nelson at the World of Wearable Art and Collectable Cars Museum although the event is now hosted in the nation’s capital - Wellington.
Abel Tasman National Park covers just 22,350ha but its international reputation is enormous. The Abel Tasman Coastal Track is one of New Zealand’s most picturesque walks and it takes three to five days to walk the full length. You can kayak this area too – Tonga Island seal colony is a must-see.
Nelson Lakes National Park is centred on two beautiful alpine lakes: Rotoiti and Rotoroa. Craggy mountains, tranquil lakes, beech forest, clear streams and pebble ‘beaches’ are synonymous with Nelson Lakes.
