Raglan
Raglan is a harbour town offering plenty of outdoor entertainment, both on land and in the sea. Located on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island, Raglan one of the southern hemisphere’s longest left-hand surf breaks which is fabulous for keen surfers. It also features glorious swimming beaches, the spectacular Bridal Veil Falls and Mount Karioi nearby.
The town was originally named Whaingaroa – ‘the long pursuit’ – after the Maori legend of a great migratory canoe, Tainui, which sailed for a long time to reach the land, and from which Raglan was spotted.
With a relaxed lifestyle, stunning harbour, black sands and spectacular views, Raglan is popular for not only surfing, but kayaking, kite surfing, tramping, horse treks and paragliding, and the town has a lively café, music and art culture.
