A Regional Perspective
The International Police Association is controlled in each member country by a National Council, which in turn is answerable to an International Executive Council.
Countries are divided into Regions for administrative purposes. In New Zealand, there are 6 seperate geographical regions.
Region One - Auckland and Northland
Region Two - Waikato and BOP
Region Three - Central and Eastern Districts
Region Four - Wellington Police District
Region Five - Canterbury and Tasman
Region Six - Southern (Otago and Southland)
Each region has an elected co mmittee consisting of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and others. Each region also has a National Council Representative, who represents the region at National Meetings.
As a member of the International Police Association, you are entitled to wear the badge of the Association and are automatically placed in the region governing the area in which you serve (members may have the option of joining the region in which they reside). Members have full voting rights at regional meetings as well as the right to speak and vote at Annual Meetings.
