Region

Three

Region 3, IPA New Zealand section, includes the Central and Eastern Districts (North Island, New Zealand).

We are blessed to have some of New Zealand’s most spectacular tourist attractions, which attracts tourist from all over the world to visit us. Region 3 is a vast area and it will take time to discover everything, so plan carefully.

Some samples of our attractions:

New Plymouth: with the famous Mt Egmont/Taranaki National Park with its scenic walks and climbs, trout fishing from the many mountain rivers, well known coastal walkway, with impressive views. Pukekura Park and the coastal walkways are right in the centre of New Plymouth so you don’t have to travel far to enjoy what we have.

Wanganui: an early historic settlement for European settlers and is on the edge of the historic Whanganui River that is steeped in Māori history and culture, why not enjoy a river cruise or head out to the coast for magical views and walks.

Palmerston North: the proud owners of the National New Zealand Rugby Museum and the centre of the biggest wind turbine farm in New Zealand, clearly seen on the Ranges behind the City.

The Hawkes Bay (Napier and Hastings): this is one of the main wine growing Regions in New Zealand. Most vine yards offer tours and sampling of their wines. You can head to Cape Kidnappers Bird sanctuary at Havelock North, take in the Napier Art Deco buildings, climb Te Mata Peak in Hastings or simply relax on the beaches.

These are just a few attractions that our region can offer, so come on down and visit us.

With over 100 IPA members scattered across our region, we are looking forward to inviting new members into our fold. It matters little if you are a current serving member, retired or resigned member of the NZ Police, or a retired overseas Police member.

Region 3 is active socially as a group. We have over 100 active members, so why not join us, its easy, just complete the online form and you are almost there, and for just $1.70 a fortnight you get the world of IPA so JOIN US NOW.

NZ IPA WANTS NEW MEMBERS

Region Three of the International Police Association is looking for new members, membership is open to current serving members, non-sworn members of the Police, retired and resigned members of the New Zealand Police plus members whom have served in other Police Forces around the world. Recently membership was opened to Defence Force Military Police.

The IPA was set up by Arthur Troop a Sergeant in the Lincolnshire Police in England in 1950. The New Zealand Section was formed on the 31st May 1966, NZ IPA were the 40th Section to join the world body. Currently there are 65 Countries and with over 431,000 members is the World’s largest Police Association. The IPA motto is 'Servo per Amikeco' or Service through Friendship and there is no distinction as to rank/position, sex, race, colour, language or religion.

New Zealand is broken into 6 regions, region 3 has Bob Walker of Wanganui as their chairperson, he has been an IPA Member for more than 50 years and has experienced the friendship and bond with IPA members both locally and internationally, he is backed by a committee of passionate IPA members.

What would Region 3 members get for their membership fee? currently the regional committee is setting up branch committees in Wanganui and Palmerston North. Hawkes Bay and Taranaki are already set up, hence the drive to get more new members. You would also get the chance to experience the world of policing from other countries, friendship through professional, social and cultural events, attend world seminars and professional police exchange programmes, such as a training centre in Germany and bursaries through the Arthur Troop scholarship programme, accommodation opportunites in 70 IPA Houses in more than 20 countries plus international youth gatherings for children and grandchildren of IPA members aged 16-17yrs and finally the best tour guides in town (local police). IPA have a strong website and have a NZ magazine that is sent to members.

The region 3 committee wants to set up social contact and events within region 3, then perhaps challenge the other regions to similar events, also set up a regional network where overseas IPA members can be shown various sites perhaps off the beaten tourist tracks and in some cases our members can home host these overseas visitors if they wish.

Current serving members of the police and those who have retired or resigned in New Zealand or other overseas countries can visit www.ipa.org.nz for more information and join using our online joining form, for $1.70 per fortnight what more could you ask for!
